This teaching skills module is the second of two modules and this second module is only open to those who have completed the first module (16 to 18 March 2012) or who completed the first module last year (11 to 13 March 2011).
This Teaching Skills course is aimed at anyone who has completed the Mindfulness One Year training and/or the Compassion One Year training with the Mindfulness Association and who would like to develop their teaching skills as a facilitator of secular Mindfulness and/or Compassion training courses. If you have a different Mindfulness training and a sustained and regular Mindfulness practice and you would like to attend the teaching skills module, then please contact info@mindfulnessassociation.org for advice.
The course will cover the following subjects:
- Embodying mindfulness and compassion
- Guiding mindfulness practices and leading inquiry
- Mindful dialogue
- Group dynamics
- Professional and ethical guidelines
- Rationales and guidance for teaching bodyscan, mindful movement and settling, grounding, resting and mindfulness support
This course will provide you with opportunities to lead guided practices and inquiry with fellow participants in a safe environment. Feedback will be provided by fellow participants and by the tutors.
These teaching skills modules emphasise the requirement for facilitators to be able to embody mindfulness and compassion while facilitating secular Mindfulness and/or Compassion training courses. The key skill is learning to stay fully present as you lead guided practices and inquiry, which skill is completely dependent on a sustained and regular personal mindfulness practice.
