About the event
This is an eight week foundation course. The first week will be a free taster (booking necessary) where you will be given simple techniques you can practise at home immediately. ALL WELCOME - mobility or flexibility issues are not a barrier. (Please contact the organiser if you need wheelchair access.)
You must attend at least one of the taster sessions. Each of the following weeks will build on the skills and techniques learned in previous weeks, so you are advised to attend as many sessions as possible to get the most from the course.
You will learn:
A five-phase routine which begins with entering a state of deep bodily and mental calm (known as 'Entering Zen'). This prepares you for the exercises to follow.
Simple, gentle exercises which combine with natural, mindful breathing to catalyse spontaneous energy (qi) flow in the body.
A little taught but highly powerful technique for letting this released energy flow freely and openly through the body's own energetic pathways.
Methods for gathering, circulating, and consolidating this energy using both dynamic (moving) and static (standing) qigong exercises to boost mental clarity and physical vitality in day-to-day life.
Ways to adjust your practice to the time you have for it - even five minutes can make a real difference!
There are no complex sequences to memorise, and no equipment or special clothing is needed. Each session will end with an extended guided qigong session so you can start your weekend feeling both refreshed and energised. Helpful resources will be provided for home use for those taking the full course.
The tasters will give you enough guidance to start practising at home, and are free. The full course introduces further techniques and skills to firmly establish and progressively deepen your qigong practice, and costs £96. Please note: In order to support a collective deepening of practice as the course progresses, no drop-ins will be permitted, and places on the full course will be strictly limited.
