About the event

The main part of the weekend will consist of Shinay Meditation as well as some guided meditation, walking meditation and time for Q&A.

This is an opportunity for those who are interested in doing a weekend of meditation as well as to receive instructions and gain more familiarity with Shinay/Shamatha meditation. Anyone is welcome to attend this course.

An untamed mind is compared to a wild elephant being led by a crazy, wild monkey of distraction. The untamed mind can do a lot of damage, as we can easily observe in daily life.

During this weekend practice retreat, Lama Zangmo will explain the benefits and the common difficulties encountered in meditation, and explain how to deal with them.

Sometimes being reminded of small things can make a big difference. When we are alone or under the influence of negative surroundings, we can’t always see the bigger picture or put things into perspective. For that reason it is helpful to be reminded and to gain more understanding of how the mind works and how to train it. By coming together as a community to practice and receive teachings we can deepen our understanding of the inner workings of our mind and strenghthen our meditation practice.

This course is suitable for both Buddhists and non-Buddhists alike.

The £5 registration fee is not a payment for the course. There is no charge for our courses and teachings, but donations to help cover the costs of running the centre are very welcome.
