During the weekend, Ani Semchi will explain how to draw a picture of Chenrezig according to traditional proportions. This is not an art-class but a way to enhance our visualisation. Having to draw a picture ourselves will for sure help to look closer and absorb the aspects of the picture more deeply so that visualising Chenrezig will be much easier. There will also be basic instructions on the various aspects of the Chenrezig-practice and the mantra of
Everybody is welcome and experience in art is absolutely not necessary.
Please bring A4 paper, pencil, eraser, 30 cm ruler (very important), pencil-sharpener, if you wish also colour-pencils and the chenrezig-sadhana.
Ani Semchi trained for seven years in traditional thangka painting at Samye Ling with Sherab Palden Beru, a great master of the Karma Gadri tradition, whose paintings are renowned for their outstanding beauty and purity. She has life-long ordination as a nun and has completed the traditional three year retreat where her meditation experience further enriched her understanding of the thangkas. After her retreat she gradually started to teach thangka painting in various Samye Dzongs.
She now lives in Germany and is in charge of Kagyu Samye Dzong Kircheim, where she teaches meditation and runs courses on Buddhist philosophy.
