About the event

This talk is based on Gelong Thubten’s latest book, ‘Handbook for Hard Times - a monk’s guide to fearless living’. Thubten will explain how meditation and mindfulness can help us to handle life’s challenges with greater resilience. Regular meditation helps us to transform our thoughts, emotions and reactions. As our wisdom starts to deepen, difficult situations can even become part of our journey to freedom.

Topics will include exploring our fears and anxieties, and how we can become more fearless. We will look at how to establish a daily meditation practice, how to work with pain and suffering, the development of compassion and how to cultivate the skill of forgiveness.

Gelong Thubten took ordination as a monk in 1993 at Samye Ling Monastery and spent many years as personal assistant to Akong Tulku Rinpoche. Thubten has spent six years in intensive meditation retreats and now teaches meditation in numerous organisations such as the NHS, Google and at several universities. He is the author of the Sunday Times bestselling book, 'A Monk’s Guide to Happiness.' and 'Handbook for Hard Times - a monk's guide to fearless living'.
