Tibetan is one of the four major languages for students of Buddhism, along with Sanskrit, Pali, and Chinese. Learning the Tibetan language is therefore an important gateway which opens the door to the treasure-house of the Dharma, eventually providing a deeper understanding of the Buddhist texts and teachings.

The emphasis of this course is to enable the student to read and write through learning the basics of the alphabet, spelling, and grammar, so that they can start to use the Tibetan language for their own Dharma practice.

About  Drukthar Gyal: Drukthar was born in Tibet, grew up in India and did further studies in the United Kingdom. He graduated from the University of Westminster and Edinburgh. He was a former Tibetan language teacher at Tibet House, Culture Centre of His Holiness The Dalai Lama in Delhi. He is an experienced Tibetan language Teacher with excellent knowledge of Tibetan language, literature and Tibetan culture.

Please Note: The number of participants for this course is limited. We ask that students seriously commit to attend all the classes to the best of their ability, and also set time aside for homework.
