About the event

During this class students will learn the fundamentals of translating by studying some of the 100,000 Songs of Milarepa in Tibetan. 


Milarepa is one of the greatest yogis to have lived in Tibet. His life story in particular provides us with encouragement and inspiration to persevere when we encounter difficulties. These teachings point out the essential qualities needed for a spiritual practitioner and how to gain inner peace and mental stability.

During this course students will read through both the Tibetan Text and English Translation, through doing this students will expand their Tibetan vocab, improve their reading skills, and further their understanding of Tibetan Grammar.

This is a 8 week course starting on the 8th January , this course will run every Wednesday from 7:30-8:30 PM until the 26th of February. The dates for this course will be 8th Jan, 15th Jan, 22nd Jan, 29th Jan, 5th Feb, 12th Feb, 19th Feb, 26th Feb. It is strongly recommend you attend all classes. 



About  Drukthar Gyal: Drukthar was born in Tibet, grew up in India and did further studies in the United Kingdom. He graduated from the University of Westminster and Edinburgh. He was a former Tibetan language teacher at Tibet House, Culture Centre of His Holiness The Dalai Lama in Delhi. He is an experienced Tibetan language Teacher with excellent knowledge of Tibetan language, literature and Tibetan culture.


Please Note: The number of participants for this course is limited. We ask that students seriously commit to attend all the classes to the best of their ability, and also set time aside for homework.
